Pastor Dexter Hulen McMahon Nov. 12, 1917 - Oct. 17, 2006 Basham Funeral Care Visitation for Pastor Dexter Hulen McMahon will be held at Faith Temple Church (1227 Park Drive) on Friday, October 20, 2006 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Faith Temple Church on Saturday afternoon, October 21, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Arvin Cemetery. Dexter was born November 12, 1917 in Trenton, Missouri the fourth son of Benjamin Franklin McMahon and Lidia Ellen "Ellie" Swan and he passed away October 17, 2006 in Bakersfield, California with his family by his side. He is preceded in death by his parents and his three brothers. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Glendolene McMahon; daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Robert Tatum; son and daughter-in-law, J.B. and Jan McMahon; grandchildren, Michele and her husband, Trey Sherer, Rod and his wife, Leah Tatum, Jenifer and her husband, Buck Cardoza and Jeana McMahon; 7 great grandchildren with 1 on the way as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. His boyhood was spent in Princeton, Missouri on the farm. In 1935 his family came to California settling in Arvin where he later became owner of a single service station and garage. In 1942 he met the love of his life The Lord Jesus Christ and 18 year old Glendolen Mullin. Both changed his life! Following marriage in 1943, he and Glendolen followed God's call into ministry which continued up to the week preceding his home going. His love of family and people was unparalleled. He pastured two congregations, the first; Calvary Gospel Tabernacle. Later he pioneered another church, Full Gospel Lighthouse on Butte Street. After "retiring" from pastoring he continued ministering in Evangelism. He continued in all facets of ministry including Christian Rodeo, hospital visitation to filling pulpits for vacationing pastors. Over his lifetime in ministry, Pastor McMahon led many, many souls to Christ. He now resides in his new home - a house not made by hands - Heaven!
