Obituary, The Gridley Light - Anna Vesta Reed
Anna Vesta Cokeley passed away may 15, 1998. She was the fifth child born, September 13, 1906, to Cyrus and Katie Bell Shook Cokeley in Gridley, Kansas.
Vesta graduated from Gridley High School. She married Ray William Reed on January 7, 1927. They were married 54 years before his death in 1981. She was a housewife and together with her husband they farmed northwest of Gridley until 1940 when they moved to Wichita. Vesta lived in the family home in Wichita until 1990 when she entered a nursing home.
Two sisters, Ida and Erma and three brothers, Alva, Clarence and Floyd preceded her in death.
Survivors include two children, Morine Schen and bob Reed; nine grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Memorial services were held May 18, 1998, at 10 am. At the Broadway Chapel in Wichita, Kansas with Rev. Michael McGuire officiating. Casketbearers were: Greg and Bob Reed, Les Williams, Scott Tiger, Ian Schen, and Russ Weber.
Interment was in the White Chapel Cemetery.

Survivors son, Bob of Lampe, Mo.; daughter Morine Schen of Wichita; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren. Memorial has been established with the Alzheimer's Association.
