Helen Paulina Washington Bruin was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, Oct. 15, 2006.

Fondly known as Granny Pauli, she was born on May 24, 1940, into the union of Paul and Bertha Washington, who preceded her in death. Growing up in Evansville, she attended Chestnut-Walnut and Lincoln High School, graduating in the class of 1958. Paulina was a gifted and accomplished classical pianist, who played for the school choir while at Lincoln, and was the recipient of the Downtown Kiwanis Arion Award for music. She was also elected as Football Homecoming Queen during her senior year. She grew up playing for New Hope Baptist under her pastor, the Dr. Rev. W.R Brown Sr., where she was a life long member. She played for many area churches here in Evansville, Memorial Baptist Church, Eastview Baptist Church and Zion Baptist Church, just to name a few. She loved playing the piano.

Paulina was also a strong and hard working woman. For many years, she worked at Mesker Park Zoo, Community Action Program of Evansville, and finally General Electric in Mount Vernon, Ind., for 22 years, retiring in 2000, due to health reasons.
