Shara Illum, 20, of Springfield, Missouri died from injuries sustained in three vehicle accident at the 71 mile marker on Interstate 44, fives miles west of Springfield. It was reported her vehicle crossed the median and struck an on-coming car driven by Clark Martin of Commerce, Michigan. She was then rear-ended by a tractor trailer unit driven by Michel Mercier of Boisbriand, Quebec. The other drivers were not injured.
Shara is the daughter of Steven F. and Eileen Steed Illum.
She attended Wanda Gray Elementary. She was baptized as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1994. She attended Cherokee Middle School and graduated from Kickapoo High in 2003 where she loved singing in the choir. She attended Missouri State University one semester and worked to support herself to buy her own car.
Shara is survived by her parents; and brothers and sisters: Thann (Westminster, California), Kirsten Wren Kirsten Anne Illum Wren (Boca Raton, Florida), Maren (Huntington Beach, California), Ben (Salt Lake City, Utah), Jon (Berkeley, Californai), Nate and Justin of Springfield, Missouri.
Memorial services were held at 2 p.m., Saturday, October 21 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 4450 S. Cox Road, Springfield, Missouri.
