Funeral services for Alvin L. Taylor, grandfather of Seminole residents, are scheduled to be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 25 at the Rock Creek Baptist Church in Shawnee with Rev. Richard Zimmer officiating.
Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of the Resthaven Funeral Home.
Taylor, of Tecumseh, died Wednesday, June 23, 2004, at the age of 83 at local hospital.
He was born Jan. 27, 1921, in Pottawatomie County to Rubelt and Gladys (Bradley) Taylor.
He served in the United States Air Force and was a retired truck driver and an avid golfer.
He was married to Mary Hensley on June 27, 1942, who preceded him in death in 1997.
He later married Jeanne Carsten in Odessa, Texas.
He was a member of Rock Creek Baptist Church in Shawnee.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary; and one grandson, David Taylor.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanne Taylor of the home; one daughter, Rhonda Mems of Pharoh; two sons, Terry Taylor of Rocky Mount, Mo. and Steve Taylor of Moore; one stepson, Charles Carsten of Ada; four grandsons, several great grandchildren and step grandchildren; one brother, E.R. Taylor Jr. of Noble; two sisters, Helen Peeveyhouse of Tulsa and Nellie Apple of Broken Arrow.
