Sheena Lee Bentler, 17, of Bonaparte, Iowa, passed away on October 14, 2006 at her home.

Born November 9, 1988 in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, she was the daughter of Michael and Sandra Mendez Bentler.

Survivors include one brother Shawn Bentler of Quincy, Illinois, grandparents Darlene Bentler of Houghton, Gervase and Mollie Bentler of Bonaparte, and Eusebio (Abie) and Julia Mendez of Fort Madison, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her great–grandparents Vincenté and Maria Mendez, George and Ina Angell, and Fred and Veronica Bentler.

Sheena was a senior at Harmony High School where she was going to be an early graduate and was currently on track to be awarded the Valedictorian of her class. She was active in barber shop, chamber choir, choir, National Honor Society, talented and gifted, American Field Service, Art Club, student council, class officers, Quiz Bowl, Society of Academic Achievement, trap shoot, cross country, basketball, softball, and was a statistician for football. She was an avid outdoors person, hunter, and loved boating.
