Charles Handy was born in Florida. He was the son of Benjamin Handy of Candor, New York, a soldier who served during Florida's Seminole Wars.

Charles married Alice Mae Rich in 1884 in Tompkins County, NY. They had four children, Vernon, Cora, Evalena and Grace.

He died about 1938. There is no stone marking the grave which is side by side with his wife. A Grand-daughter, Barbara Reynolds Townsend, passed down the location of the graves. Take a left at the first drive and go half way down. Turn left by the Charles Loveless Stone. The graves are located on the left of the large "Harvey" Stone. Children Vernon and Grace Wiggins are buried nearby.
