Audrey Clinton Fort
Audrey Clinton Fort, 93, of Sweetwater, died Thursday, April 22, 2004, at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, April 26, at Roscoe Cemetery with Rev. Keith Clowers officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Fort was born June 27, 1910, in Hamilton and married Opal Jameson Oct. 10, 1975, in Sweetwater. He was a member of Lamar Street Baptist Church and had lived in Sweetwater and Roscoe since 1950. Fort was an auto mechanic. He attended school in Truscott, Knox County and played basketball and baseball. Fort went to auto mechanic school in Dallas and was converted and joined the Baptist Church in 1922, in Knox County. He taught the young married class in Sunday School in Roscoe at one time.
Survivors include his wife, Opal Fort of Sweetwater; one son, Donnie C. Fort of Missoula, Mont.; one daughter, Ava Nell Ward of Lubbock; one sister, Faye Stovall of Grand Prairie; one brother, Woodrow Fort of Sweetwater; one stepdaughter, Maxine Hemmingway of Maine; one stepson, Bob Armentrout of Plano; four grandchildren; 15 step-grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and 18 step great-grandchildren.
Fort was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh and Mary Fort.
