Services for Martin A. Nieman, 86 of Fremont who died February 4, 1993 at Memorial Hospital of Dodge County were Saturday, February 6 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fremont. Rev. Donald Levenhagen and Rev. David Loeschen officiated. Burial was in Memorial Cemetery.

Martin A. Nieman was born May 19, 1906 near Arlington. He grew up in that area.

After 1929, he farmed near Fontanelle until moving to Fremont in 1954. He then worked as a carpenter and was a cabinet maker for Watson Industries.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, its Lutheran Layman’s League, the rural fire board of Nickerson and served on the Fontanelle School Board for 15 years.

He married Edna Merkling March 17, 1929 at Holyrood, Kansas. She survives.

Other survivors include a son, Keith of Fremont; a brother, Walter of Blair, three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

A memorial has been established to the church.

Ludvigsen Mortuary in Fremont was in charge of arrangements.
