Nickolas Lee "Nick" Grammer, 26 of Alto Pass died at 4:10 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 27, 2005, from injuries received in an automobile accident on Illinois 127 in Jackson County.
He was born July 9, 1979 in Carbondale, the son of Gary Lee and Jacqueline "Jackie" Stearns Grammer.
He attended Dutch Ridge Baptist Church, north of Alto Pass. He was a member of the National Guard. He worked at Shade Tree Service Co. as a foreman for more than five years.
Nick was a very special son and had many friends. He was an avid sportsman; he loved to hunt and fish. He was a 1997 graduate of Murphysboro High School, where he loved all sports. He wrestled and played football throughout his four years there.
He is survived by his parents, Gary and Jackie Grammer of Alto Pass; a brother and his wife, Eric Lee and Sheri Grammer of San Diego; maternal grandmother, Betty Stearns of Alto Pass; aunts and uncles, Danny and Jerry Kay Miller and Fred and Bonnie Stearns of Alto Pass; five cousins, Scott and David Miller, Jason Stearns, Franny Bailey, and Kristi Thies; and many friends.
He was proceeded in death by his paternal grandparents, Ralph and Ruby Grammer, maternal grandfather, Clinton "Criss" Stearns, and an uncle, Charles E. "Pete" Grammer.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today in Dutch Ridge Baptist church with the Rev. Davy Miller officiating. Interment will be in Hagler Cemetery with full military honors given by the Carroll P. Foster VFW Post 3455. Visitation was after 4 p.m. Wednesday at the church.
Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Alto Pass is in charge of the arrangements.
