He was born on January 28, 1928, on the family farm near Cosby, where he lived his entire life. After graduating from Savannah RIII High School, Harold took over the family dairy farm. He retired from dairy farming in 1997, but continued to farm until 2008. After retiring from dairying, he enjoyed restoring old John Deere tractors. Harold also served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Savannah.
On August 17, 1951, he was united in marriage to Darlene Field of Savannah, who preceded him in death on July 5, 2000.
Also preceding him in death were his parents, Arthur and Esther (Bunse) Schneider; a brother, Glen Schneider; and a sister, Doris (Schneider) Sander.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law; Leticia and Don Frey of Gretna, Neb.; and Melody and Chuck Metcalf of Smithville, Mo.; one sister, Velda (Schneider) Berning, Bella Vista, Ark.; four grandsons: Zach and wife, Lindsay Frey; Dustin Frey; and Grant and Seth Metcalf; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral Service: Wednesday, June 15, at the First Baptist Church in Savannah, Mo.
Burial: with Military Honors: Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery.
