James C. Coughenour, Sr. 84, of Middletown, died Sunday, April 17, 2016 at Frey Village.

Mr. Coughenour was born in Altoona and was the son of the late Charles E. and Irene C. (Fabian) Coughenour. He was a member of the Class of 1951 of Altoona Catholic High School. He studied at Hiran G. Andrews Center iin Johnstown, Pa. He was a member of Holy Name of Jesus Roman Catholic Church. He was retired from the Pa. Dept of Environmental Resources, Parks and Recreation where he was a Reservation Specialist.

Mr. Coughenour was predeceased by his son, Anthony Coughenour and his sister, Sister Mary Catherine Coughenour.

Mr. Coughenour is survived by his daughters, Irene Watts and Patricia Zimmerman, both of Steelton, Theresa Stoner of Harrisburg and Ruthanne Baxley of Fla.; his sons, James Coughenour, Jr. of Harrisburg, Michael Coughenour and William Coughenour, both of Fla.; twenty grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; his sister, Jane Bickers of Va.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, April 22, 2016 at 11 A.M. at the Hoover Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc., 6011 Linglestown Rd., Harrisburg. Burial will be in Shoops Cemetery.

A Visitation will be held on Friday from 10 to 11 A.M. at the funeral home, prior to the service.
