Scientist. Researcher into radiation. Married Marie Curie in 1895, who assisted in his research. In 1898 they isolated the elements polonium and radium. Shared Nobel Prize in physics 1903 with his wife and with Becquerel. Obtained the Chair of Physics at the Sorbonne in 1904. Entered Pantheon in 1995 on centenary of his marriage to Marie.
