WILLARD DORAL BILLUPS
Willard Doral Billups, 77 of Ridgeway, died Tuesday, June 26, 1984 at a Bethany nursing home, at the age of 77 years, 8 months and 10 days.
He was born Oct. 16, 1906 east of Ridgeway in Harrison County, the son of Robert and Myrtle (Hammack) Billups. He was engaged in farming and lived around Ridgeway all his life. On Dec. 5, 1931 he married Alma Marie Matson at the Christian Church parsonage in Albany, Missouri. To this union three children were born, Bonnie Simpson of Wadesboro, North Carolina, Clayton Billups of Ridgeway, and James Billups of Ridgeway.
He retired and moved to Mt. Moriah, Missouri in 1972, then returned to the farm in 1979 to finish out his last years of his life. In April 1984, he joined his wife, Alma, at the Bethany Care Center.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother.
Surviving are his wife, Alma of the home; two sons, James W. Billups and Clayton P. Billups, both of Ridgeway; one daughter, Bonnie L. Simpson of Wadesboro, North Carolina; seven sisters, Retha Morris of Bethany Care Center, Arlene Johnson of Viroqua, Wisconsin, Ruby Eivins of Ridgeway, Maxine Shipley of Loveland, Colorado, Mary Stephens of Iowa City, Iowa, Erma Dale Shipley, of Cleveland, Ohio, Faye Spencer of Pinckneyville, Illinois; two brothers, Archie Billups of Blythedale, and Tom Billups of Woodland, Washington; nine grandchildren, Donnie, Levon, Larry and Sherry Billups, all of California, Marsha Simpson of Pittsfield, Illinois, Ramona Simpson of Carrollton, Missouri, Kristy, Rhonda and Scott Billups of Ridgeway; and three step-grandchildren, Debbie, Diane, and Tracy Perdue. He also leaves many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.
He was a member of the Cainsville First Christian Church and the Cainsville Masonic Lodge No. 328 AF & AM.
Funeral services will be held at the Cainsville Christian Church Thursday, June 28 under direction of Stoklasa Memorial Chapel in Cainsville.
