Myrtle Geneva Christopher, 88, of La Grande, died August 14 at a local care center. At her request, there will be no public services. Daniels Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.

Myrtle was born on 15 Nov 1918 to Jasper and America Elizabeth(Chapman)Selby in Comanche, OK. She began school in Oklahoma and finished in Los Angeles. She worked for Douglas Aircraft in Santa Monica, CA as an inspector, until her retirement.

On 21 July 1956 she married Gordon Woodrow Christopher. After her retirement, the couple spent much of their time in Kingman, AZ. She cared for her husband before and after he was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, and the outdoors. She loved to take rides in the car to enjoy the countryside.

Survivors include her son, Gordon W Christopher Jr of Kingman; daughter Pam D. Alton of Union; brothers Henry Selby of Wasilla, AK, and Orbie Selby of Dallas, Texas; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her husband and four sisters.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Summerville Baptist Church in care of Daniels Chapel of the Valley, 1502 Seventh Street, La Grande 97850.
