Hubert E. Ashley, 75, of Bassett, passed away on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was born in Henry County on December 23, 1940 to the late Presley Ashley and the late Christine Mize Ashley. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Spencer Ashley who died on April 6, 2016. Hubert was a member of Old Center Primitive Baptist Church.
Hubert is survived by sons, Ira Ashley and wife, Gayle and Rome Ashley and Kim Carter; grandchildren, Brittany Branch and husband, Cory and Tiffany Turner and husband, Jon; step granddaughter, Brittany Carter; great granddaughters, Holly Branch and soon to be Lacey Turner; brothers, Wayne Ashley, Herman Ashley, Curtis Ashley, Norman Ashley and Paul Ashley; sisters, Layne Lusk, Mary Wright and Hattie Campbell and several nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Monday, April 18, 2016 in the Chapel of Bassett Funeral Service. Funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, April 19, 2016 in the Chapel of Bassett Funeral Service with Elder Carl Terry, Pastor Freddie Bonds and Elder Mark Terry officiating. Burial will follow at County Line Church of God of Prophecy Cemetery.
