Henrietta Davis was born August 2, 1878 in Bethel township near Alpha, a daughter of Thomas and Mary Jane Ives Dickens. She died at the age of 87, July 15, 1966 at Grandview Nursing Home in Oelwein
She was a longtime resident of the Alpha area and moved to Oelwein 15 years ago. She was married October 25, 1899 to Will L. Davis. The couple had four children, Frank L., Norine, Nellda, and Kenneth. She was a member of the Alpha Methodist church until moving to Oelwein when she transferred her membership to Grace Methodist church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, one son, Frank, six brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include her daughters, Mrs. Norine Bemiss and Mrs. Nellda Richardson, Oelwein; Kenneth, West Union; 11 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. One sister, Mrs. Fannie Smith, West Union and nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services were Tuesday, July 19, at the Alpha Methodist church. The Rev. Duane O'Toole officiated. Burial was in Bethel cemetery at Alpha.
