Services for Harry L. Ruggles, 88, one of the founders of the Rotary club in Chicago, who died Friday in Santa Monica [sic], Cal., will be held there Monday. Memorial services will be held in Chicago later in the week.

Mr. Ruggles, former president of H. L. Ruggles company, printers, at 107 N. Wacker Dr., had lived in Santa Monica since his retirement in 1947. In 1905, he and four business friends founded the Rotary club in room 711 of the old Unity building, now 127 N. Dearborn St. He was also the originator of community singing at Rotary club meetings. He died while en route to a joint meeting of the Cathedral City and Palm Springs Rotary clubs in Los Angeles.

He leaves his widow, Mrs. Josephine Ruggles, with whom he celebrated their golden wedding in 1952; two sons, Kenneth and Edward Ruggles, and a daughter, Mrs. Philip Schifflin.

Husband of Josephine Ruggles; father of Kenneth and Edward Ruggles and Mrs. Philip Schifflin; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Resting at chapel, 1567 Maple avenue, Evanston, after 2 p.m., Wednesday, where service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Thursday. Burial Memorial Park cemetery.
