Evalena Louise Sturdivant

Evalena Louise Sturdivant, 93, of Corpus Christi, passed away Sunday, May 24, 2009. She was born July 25, 1915, to Joseph and Ola Dunnam.

She was the founder of ECW for St. John Episcopal Church in Odessa, Texas and the founder of the American Business Women's Association in Odessa.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a great-grandson, Stefen Brown; and her husband, James Allen Sturdivant, Sr.

She is survived by her daughter, Mary Louise Clark of Corpus Christi; a sons, Jim (Sandy) Sturdivant of Tulsa, Okla.; sisters, Alvis Pounds and Joanna Marshall; grandchild, Judith Brown; and great-grandchildren, Brittany Brown, Joseph Brown and James (Erica) Brown.

Funeral services will be conducted at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, May 26, 2009, in the Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Sidney Blalack officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted by McCoy Funeral Home of Sweetwater at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 28, 2009, at the Hylton Cemetery in Nolan County.
