DUNCAN BANNER
IRWIN ATKINS, 58, SUCCUMBS

A long-time area resident, Irwin Atkins, 58, died at his home Monday. Born Feb 8, 1905 in Marlow, Atkins moved to Duncan in 1907. He was a carpenter.

Survivors are three sisters, Mrs Bonita Thompson, Mrs Geneva Levy, of Duncan, and Mrs Evaline Reynolds, Arlington, Tx: two brothers, Bennett of Duncan and Randy Corpus Christi, Tx. and 30 nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Brooks Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev Bill Masters will officiate assisted by Rev Maynard Campbell. Burial will be in Duncan Cemetery.

Bearers will be Cecil Blake, Alvin Young, Jack Young, Melvin Graham, Joe Jackson and Lloyd Lawrence. The body will lie in state until 2 p.m. and the casket will not be opened at the service.
