One of seven children of Christian and Winnifred Louden Brandt, he married Neoma "Tillie" Rucker on Aug. 27, 1938. His parents and six siblings died before him.
Surviving are his wife; four daughters: Gloria Winterlin, Sharon McGrew, Jeanette Stewart and Marjorie Johnson; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Brandt served in the U. S. Army in Europe during W. W. II. He returned home to work on the family farm near LaHarpe. He was employed by the Santa Fe Railroad in Fort Madison, IA from which he retired in 1983, moving to Sun City, AZ in 1987.
He was a member of Union Church in LaHarpe and of the American Legion Post there where he was a past commander. In Fort Madison he was a member of Santa Fe United Methodist church and the Davenport Masonic Lodge. In Sun City he was a member of First United Methodist.
Cremation was accorded.
