Winefred was the daughter of Jacob and Lydia Hoff. She was named for her grandmother Winifred Johnson Hoff. She married John Marshall (as his second wife) in 1791 or 1792.

Winefred was widowed in 1803, but had not remarried by 1817 when she was called "Winneford Marshall" in her mother's will.

Note: It seems likely that she was buried with her late husband and children in Pennington Presbyterian Churchyard. However, no record of her burial or gravestone has been located.
