Bernard was born at the Blair Hospital to Ernest and Elnora (Petersen) Gosker.
He attended Neff and Rose Hill Schools and was confirmed at the Vacoma Church.
In January of 1951 he joined the United States Army and served in Korea during the Korean War. Bernard received his honorable discharge from the Army in 1953.
After returning from the Army he was a life long farmer.
On September 19-1957 he married Lila Hansen at First Lutheran Church in Blair Nebraska.
