Melvin W "Cracker" Harborth was a long time resident of Kingsbury and was a long time member of the Kingsbury Volunteer Department where he served in many capacities including fire chief, president and trustee. He was a member of Evangelists' Lutheran Church of Kingsbury. Cracker retired after 42 years at Structural Metals Inc (SMI, now CMC Steel).

He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 53 years Ruth Harborth, his son, Melvin Ray Harborth, grandsons, Jeffrey Wayne "Jeff" Barnett and Walter Wesley Bode, his parents, his sister, Elinor Boerger and husband Chris, and his brother, Leon Harborth. Survivors include his children, William "Bill" Harborth and wife, Nancy, Edna Barnett, Harvey Harborth and wife, Barbara, M C Vincent and wife, Marva Sue, and Jowan Jahns; daughter-in-law, Kathleen Harborth; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Harborth Featherstone and husband Richard, Beatrice Yeats, Peggy Allen Franklin, and Vida "Red" Whittaker and husband, Bill; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Serving as pallbearers will be his grandchildren. The members of the Kingsbury Volunteer Fire Department will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Visitation will be held at Tres Hewell Mortuary Friday, March 26, 2017 at 10 AM from 5 to 7 PM. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 26, 2016 at 10 AM at Tres Hewell Mortuary Chapel with Rev Tom Jones officiating. Interment will follow in Kingsbury Cemetery.
