She married Samuel Sherman Black on 19 Jan 1885. They had nine surviving children:

An unnamed infant was born and died 1888.

Obituary from Mrs. Sherman Black (Almira Jane Roberts)

Mrs. Sherman Black died at her home in Sheller late last evening. Death was due to tuberculosis with which she had been suffering for some time.

She was 56 years of age.

She is survived by her husband and the following named children: Mrs. Norman Dare, Mrs. Oma (sic) Pitchford and Mrs. Martha Wilson of Mt. Vernon. Ed Black of Waltonville, Clarence Black of Decatur and Earnest and Howard Black at home.

Funeral Arrangements had not been made up to a late hour this morning.

Mrs. Almira Jane Black was born in Jefferson County, ILL, Sept, 17, 1868. She died March 5, 1925 in her home hear Sheller, Ill. She was 56 years, 5 months, 16 days old. She was united in marriage to Sherman Black Jan 21, 1885. To this union were born ten children. She is survived by the following: Mrs. Arley Wilson, Marco, Ill. Mrs. John Pitchford, Valier, Ill. Edd Black, Waltonville, Ill. Mrs. Norman Dare, Mt. Vernon, Ill, Clarence Black, Decatur, Ill. Howard Black and Ernest Black, Sheller Ill. She also leaves one sister and one brother, James Roberts, Mo. Mrs. Wade Black. She also leaves four grandchildren and many relatives and friends to mourn her loss.
