Beltz – Roy Eugene, 93, died Friday, March 4, 2016 in Long Beach, California. Born on December 16, 1922 to Paul and Effie Beltz, Enterprise, Kansas.Roy “Gene”, is survived cousins Joan, Torger, Inger, Heidi Erickson and Thayne Wickam, friends Bridget Jones, Katherine Ortega Ford, Monica Garcia, Marissa Garcia and is remembered fondly by his friends from both Automatic Musical Instrument Collectors Association (AMICA) and Musical Box Society International (MBSI).Roy graduated from the University of Maryland with a Bachelor of Science in Business in June of 1953. He served in the Army and was honorably discharged in April 1948.He relocated to Long Beach, California where he served honorably in Federal Service at the Long Beach Navel Shipyard for 43 years where he retired in 1988.Roy was passionate about volunteering and was a long time Senior Olympic volunteer for the city of Long Beach Department of Park and Recreation and Marine. He also received many awards for his service and donations to the St. Mary’s Hospice Society.He was best known for his Table Favor collections for both AMICA and MBSI. He loved helping to build the annual table favors and enjoyed displaying the Table Favor collection at annual meetings. He had been a member in both organizations since 1990’s and greatly enjoyed attending Chapter and Annual Meetings. A Graveside Service with Military Honors will be where Roy will be March 26, 2016 at 10am in Enterprise, Kansas at Mount Hope Cemetery.A celebration of life for his friends in California will be planned in Long Beach on April 17, 2016.
