Richard served as a Second Lieutenant & Bombardier on B-24H #42-94770, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided in Snow Hill, Worcester County, Maryland prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army Air Corps on November 1, 1940, prior to the war, in Baltimore, Maryland. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a Clerk and also as Single, without dependents.

Richard was "Killed In Action" when his B-24 was Shot down by German flax and crashed in Germany during the war.

He was the only crew member of this flight to be killed. The others all became POW's.

He was awarded a Purple Heart.
