Elmer was a son of Thomas and Leah Sankey Standish and was a direct descendant of Myles Standish. Elmer was a grape farmer and also ran a grocery store at 'Standish Corners" in the Town of South Bristol, NY. He married Sarah Anna Randall and had three children; Dorthia, Doris and an unknown son.
