JOHN THOMPSON

John Thompson, 85, of Colorado City and formerly of Sweetwater, died Sunday, Aug. 20, 2006, in the Kristi Lee Manor in Colorado City.

The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2006, in the Cate-Spencer and Trent Funeral Home chapel in Sweetwater with the Rev. R.V. Thompson officiating.

Burial will follow in the Sweetwater Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2006, in the funeral home.

Mr. Thompson was born on Nov. 21, 1920, in Sweetwater. He married Imagean Cathey on Nov. 25, 1942, in Sweetwater. Mr. Thompson was a member of the Highland Heights United Methodist Church. He owned and operated Cathey Poultry and Egg for many years before retiring. Mr. Thompson was a Boy Scout troop leader for Troop #147, and was a recipient of the Silver Beaver Award. He was a member of the Order of the Arrow and Chisolm Trial Council.

Survivors include one son, John Michael Thompson and his wife, Peggy, of New Braunfels; two daughters, Dora Jean Scott and her husband, Jim, and Cathey Ann Thompson, all of Sweetwater; five grandchildren, Mickey Scott and his wife, Nancy, Michelle Scott, Teresa Heck and her husband, Bryan, John Michael Thompson II and his wife, Jennifer, and Lisa Quick and her husband, Carl; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, and grand-pets, Missy and Gizzy.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Imagean Thompson, on Jan. 7, 1999; a daughter-in-law, Donna Thompson; and three brothers, W.H. Thompson, Melvin Thompson and Vick Thompson.
