Darlene Ann Fisher was born August 7, 1941 in Hugo, Oklahoma, the daughter of James H. and Ruthie C. (Whisenhunt) Hill. She passed from this life March 7, 2016 at her home in Oklahoma City at the age of 74 years and 7 months. Married to the love of her life, J.P. Fisher; together they shared so many wonderful moments…on the lake, the golf course, traveling, dancing, going out with friends, hosting numerous dinner parties and sharing many good times with their children and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Velma Teague, LaVerne Nordine, David Hill, Doris Smith and adopted son Raymond Lozmack.

She is survived by her husband, J.P. Fisher of the home; son, Brad Dean; daughters Tonja Rieg (Bill), Connie, Sherri, Kim, Julie and Tonya Lou; Niece and family, Karla Ryden (Craig), Shavonne McRee, Jenna Evans and Jared Ryden; 14 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, life-long friend, Ellen McKittrick and many friends in Harlingen, Texas.

Darlene loved cooking and entertaining. First rule of being in her kitchen was you didn’t TALK while she was creating her masterpiece! She took her culinary creations very seriously and was always a perfectionist. If you ever wanted to host an event, she was the one you came to for advice because she knew how to throw a party. She also had enough linens, crystal and serving pieces to fill the dining hall of the Titanic.

She enjoyed painting, sewing, antiquing and garage sales! In her younger years, she taught dance lessons. She loved music as much as she loved dancing…from Celine Dion to B.B. King, she could truly shake her cute little booty… which none of the girls could ever quite master that hip action.

Christmas was her favorite time of year. She loved the decorations, the smell, the shopping, the wrapping and her most cherished moment, every year, was to dim the lights as all of her family gathered together and listened to Elvis Presley’s rendition of Silent Night.

She loved the changing of seasons, so much that when she lived in the fair-weathered Harlingen, TX for the first year, she was somewhat saddened that there wasn’t snow. However, she got used to the warmth quick!

Darlene was an avid collector of antiques, sculptures and Native American inspired art. She loved, loved, LOVED shopping and she had to “fingerprint” everything! She was a true “fashionista” and took great pride and pleasure in assembling her ensembles for any and every occasion.

Lastly, this wouldn’t be complete without her four-legged love, Abbey. Abbey brought her so much joy; she followed her everywhere and was a constant companion. She was truly a pampered member of the family – from being chauffeured to the dog park for potty time in the golf cart, down to her crystal water bowl.

Special thank you to Excel Home Health Staff, especially Coleen and Jennifer.

She was dearly loved and will be missed by all!
