James Robert “Jim” Dunham, 92, passed away Friday, March 4, 2016 at the Cheyenne Health Care Center in Cheyenne, Wyoming.

Jim was born December 17, 1923, in Wheatland, the son of John R. and Mary G. (Kuehner) Dunham. He was reared and educated in Wheatland, graduating with the class of 1942. He attended the University of Denver in Denver, Colorado for a short time. He was drafted into the United States Army May 22, 1943. He served in the European Theatre, African Theatre, Middle Eastern Theatre, China, India, and Burma. Upon his discharge on March 4, 1946, he returned to Wheatland and worked for Joe Whitmore at the Whitmore Dairy where he became a partner until 1969 when they sold the dairy. Jim then began working for the Town of Wheatland as Clerk/Treasurer until retiring in 1986.

On November 8, 1946, he married Betty M. Twiford in Wheatland where they resided until their deaths.

He was a member of American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Independent Order of Odd Fellows. Jim was a past director of the Wyoming Association of Municipalities and past board member of the Wyoming Municipal Power Agency. He enjoyed fishing.

Jim is survived by his brother, Lee Dunham of Wheatland and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Betty on August 9, 2004; an infant son, Robert Craig Dunham; and a brother, Kenneth Dunham.
