Married to Louisa A. Marker, 10 Mar 1864 in Philadelphia, PA. Was the postmaster in Olpe, Kansas from 1905-1914.
Served in the American Civil War as a Pvt. from 9 Aug 1862 through 15 May 1883, Company "D", 124th Infantry Regimen, Pennsylvania.

"James H. Heacock.
---James H. Heacock died Friday afternoon at 4:30 o'clock at St. Mary's Hospital in Emporia of cancer following a long sickness. He was taken to the hospital ten days before death came. The funeral was held Sunday afternoon at 2:00 at the Olpe M.E. church. Interment was made in Pleasant Ridge cemetery.
---James H. Heacock was born in Darby Delaware County, Pa., February 2, 1838. He grew to manhood in Pennsylvania. In August, 1862 he enlisted in the 124th Pennsylvania Volunteers and served nine months. He enlisted again in the emergency call in 1863 and served three months [29th PA Inf]. He was married to Louise A. Marker in Philadelphia, March 10, 1864. In the fall of 1877, Mr. Heacock moved with his family to Kansas, settling on Phenis Creek, in Lyon County. He moved to Olpe in 1914 to fill the appointment as postmaster. He was postmaster until 1914.
---He is survived by two sons and two daughters. Edgar Heacock of Broadview, Montana, J.W. Heacock of Oneonta, N.Y.; Mrs. Lizzie Young of Phenis Creek, and Mrs. Ella Bugbee of southwest of Emporia. A brother Samuel, lives in Leavenworth.
---Mr. Heacock was a member of Post 55, G.A.R.
---Besides the children mentioned above, the Heacocks have three children who are dead. One died when a child and the others are Mrs. Dollie [Margaret] Roberts and Mrs. Reba Barb.
