Dewey Edgar Wance, 84, of Millheim, died Monday, May 16, 2005, at Hearthside, State College.
Born June 13, 1920, in Haines Township, Aaronsburg, the son of Lawrence Edgar and Georgia Dewey (Stricker) Wance.
Dewey married Martha Elizabeth (Keller) on January 10, 1942. Dewey was a farmer (strawberries were his specialty) a truck driver, an employee of Penn State University and an Amish taxi driver. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling the highways and dinning out. He served in the Army during World War II from January 4, 1943 to April 12, 1944.
Surviving were three daughters, Marie A., Ellen Lorene Wance, Aaronsburg; Cathy J. (Terry) Strassner, Leesburg, Virginia; one son, Terry D. (Pat) Wance, Rebersburg; 12 grandchildren, 8 Great Grandchildren; four sisters, Margaret Taylor, of Lock Haven; Sylvia Evans, of Millheim; Barbara (Robert) Smith of Rebersburg RD; and Donna (John) Wilcox, Littleton, Colorado.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Martha, and son Allen D., two brothers, Ken and Stanley; sister, Ruth Frank and great Grandson, Nicholas Wance.
His request was to donate his body to Humanity Gifts.
Interment was in the Aaronsburg Reformed Cemetery.
Arrangements were handled by the Steven R. Neff Funeral Home of Millheim.
