Born in Aaronsburg on October 9, 1898, he was the son of William W. and Margaret Long Wance. He was married April 2, 1919, to Georgie D. Stricker, who survived with seven children:
Dewey E. Wance, Kenneth E. Wance, Mrs. Barbara J. Smith, all of Aaronsburg; Mrs. Margaret E. Taylor, Lock Haven RD; Stanley R. Wance, Pleasant Gap; Mrs. Sylvia A. Evans, Millheim; Mrs. Donna E. Wilcox, Riccionne, Italy.
Also surviving, one sister, Mrs. Stella Weaver, Aaronsburg.
He was a member of the Evangelical United Brethren Church of Millheim.
Funeral services were held at the Neff Funeral Home, Millheim, with Reverend Lloyd Shellenberger officiating.
Burial was in the Evangelical and Reformed Cemetery, Aaronsburg.
