According to the The Monroe County History book, James Jasper left South Carolina with members of his family and three other families. Along the way, circa 1822, he married Lucinda Smith. They first lived in Davidson County, where four of their children were born. From Davidson County, they went to Limestone County, Alabama where five children were born. Their final move was to Athens, Monroe County, Mississippi where eight more children were born. James and Lucinda were my GGG grandparents. According to Patricia Horne, who very kindly went for the adventure of finding this cemetery, it is in really bad condition. Headstones are broken and half buried in mud. Some are scattered and one headstone was lying in the middle of the street. People are also dumping trash in it.
