Mrs. French, 91, of Kasson, died of natural causes Wednesday (Nov. 30, 2005) at Rochester Methodist Hospital, where she had been a patient for eight hours.
Doris M. Sackett was born Sept. 9, 1914, in Ripley Township, Dodge County. She grew up in Ripley Township and graduated from Dodge Center High School. On Feb. 7, 1933, she married Matthew J. French in rural Dodge Center. They lived in Claremont, then they owned and operated the Wasioja Store and lived in Wasioja until 1962. They moved to Kasson in 1982. Her husband died in 1995, and she continued to live in Kasson. She was a member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, John (Robin) of Raleigh, N.C., and Merton (Debra) of Owatonna; three daughters, Bonnie (Art) Thoreson of Franklin, N.C., Vivian "Frenchy" (Jim) Dennis of Tucson, Ariz., and Marilyn (Bob) Mack of Rochester; 13 grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a grandchild and a brother.
Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at Dibble Funeral Home in Kasson, and an hour before the service Saturday at the church.
