Glen W. Ward

Glen W. Ward, 61, 905 Walker Street, Elizabethton, passed away Sunday, September 17, 2006, at Johnson City Medical Center after a long battle with diabetes.

Mr. Ward was born December 18, 1944 and was a member of Siam Baptist Church.

He was a 1963 graduate of Hampton High School and a four-year member of the basketball team.

He served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War.

Mr. Ward served the City of Elizabethton and Newport News, Va., as a Police Officer.

He retired from the Veterans Administration, Mountain Home, as a Police Officer.

He was a native of Carter County and a son of the late Tom and Lucille Conway Ward. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ira Ward.

A Celebration of Life Service for Mr. Ward will be conducted at 8 p.m. Wednesday, September 20, in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home with Rev. Bobby Stout and Rev. Jonas Revis officiating. Music will be under the direction of April Pitman and Jennifer Crabtree. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, prior to the service hour, or friends may visit at the home of his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Joe and Betty Colvin, 913 Walker Street, Elizabethton, anytime.

The committal and entombment service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, September 21, in the Mausoleum of Peace at Happy Valley Memorial Park.

Military Honors will be accorded by the Captain Lynn H. Folsom V.F.W. Post No. 2166 and the Tennessee Army National Guard. Employees of the Carter County School System and the Carter County Schools Transportation Department, his Hampton Bulldog teammates and Anthony Kiech.

Those who wish to attend the committal service are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m Thursday to go in procession to the cemetery.

Those who prefer in lieu of flowers may make donations to the American Cancer Society, 209 S. Riverside Drive, Elizabethton, TN 37643.
