He was a veteran

Elmer was born on a farm near Kennard, Nebraska to Henry J. and Anna Wesemann on February 21, 1926. He was the 12th child in a family of 14 children. He attended Peaceful Hill School near the farm and later walked four miles to Washing School.

Elmer farmed with his brothers until he was drafted in 1945. After Basic Training in the U.S. Army he enlisted in the Air Force and served there as Staff Sergeant, joined the Reserves and was honorably discharged in 1952.

Elmer married Marylu Morris on June 5, 1949 in Bennington at St. John’s Lutheran Church.

He liked airplanes, and acquired a pilot license to fly small one-engine planes. He also liked to work on machinery, read, and enjoyed dancing. One hobby was taking photographs. He was the photographer for many weddings and church activities.

After retirement, he drove for Woodhouse Ford in Blair, picking up and delivering cars for customers.

Elmer N. Wesemann entered eternity February 8, 2016 in Blair, Nebraska.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers John, Louie, Bill, Albert, Henry, Herman and Melvin; sisters Ella, Rose Ceccilia, Alvina, Anita and Wanda.

Left with memories are his wife Marylu Wesemann of Blair, a sister-in-law of Waterloo, Iowa, nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.

Funeral 10:30 am Friday at First Lutheran Church in Blair. Pastor Pam Ciulla will conduct the service and offer words of comfort. Organist: Clare Cowing; Musical Selections: “Jesus Savior, Pilot Me”, “How Great Thou Art”, “Blessed Assurance”

Honorary pallbearers: Ken Olson, Lyle Sass, Victor Sass, Jerry Wesemann, Brett LeGrand, Ethan LeGrand, Jonathan LeGrand, Joseph LeGrand

Graveside services at the Elk City Cemetery. Visitation 6-8 pm Thursday at Campbell Aman Funeral Home. Memorials to First Lutheran Church in Blair.
