Vermont Lieutenant Governor and father of US Senator Porter H. Dale. He became an attorney and settled in Island Pond. He served in the Vermont House and Senate, as Essex County State's Attorney, and as US Deputy Customs Collector in Island Pond. Dale was Lieutenant Governor from 1870 to 1872. After leaving office he was President of the Vermont Bar Association and served again in the Vermont House in 1892.
