Mrs. Martha Anne Cannon, age 66, of New Augusta died January 30, 2016 at Forrest General Hospital.
Martha Anne was born Feb. 12, 1949 in Jefferson County, Alabama to Clarence Duward and Floell Louise Spain Burdette. Her father worked away from home. Her mother was very sickly and had three other children to care for. Eventually the marriage failed and with no other way to care for her children, Floell put her children up for adoption.
Martha Anne was adopted by a loving family,
Robert "Benny" Vallantyne and
Germany Watkins Vallantyne. Robert and Germany divorced. Robert remarried
Thelma Doris Smith. Germany remarried
Peter J Semanek.
Mrs. Cannon was a member of the First United Methodist Church in New Augusta and a retired bookkeeper for an Electrical Company.
Graveside service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, February 3, 2016, at the New Augusta Cemetery.
