In Loving Memory of
William E "Bill" Akins
Bill Akins, age 75, left this life to start another life with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday September 14th at 5:25 A.M. in the Home Hospice House in Odessa.
Bill was born in McCauley, TX to Luther and Buela Mae Akins. He was in the U.S. Army serving as MP during The Korean War, and retired from The United States Postal Service with over thirty years of service. Bill was a member of the First Baptist Church in Stanton, TX. He was a deacon of The First Baptist Church of Imperial while living there and a proud member of the Lions Club.
Survivors include wife Glenda Akins of Odessa; his son Todd Akins of Midland, three step-daughters Debbie Gaddis of Sachse TX, Donna Brown of Odessa, and Terry McIntyre of Valentine, TX; two brothers, Bynum Akins of Dallas, and Ferris Akins of Ballinger; five sister, Coe Pinson of Warner Robins, GA, Nola Vymola of Ft Worth, Martha Evelyn Lewellen of Austin, Lillian Gotcher of Lubbock, and Latane Robertson of San Angelo; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bill was proceed in death by his father Luther Akins, and mother Buela Mae Parker; stepson Les Brown; two brothers, Wesley Akins and Ray Akins; five sisters; Katy Borron, Dale Russo, Cleo McCloud, Icey Snelgrove, and Aline Jones.
Funeral services will be held in Imperial, TX at 3:00 P.M. Saturday, Sept. 16, 2006, at the First Baptist Church. Reverends Dean Duckett, Ferris Akins, and David Harp will be officiating the service. Burial will follow at the Imperial Cemetery conducted by Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home of Crane.
