Victor Shreve, 99, Arthur, W.Va., died Friday, Dec. 13, 1996, at Grant County Nursing Home in Petersburg, W.Va., where he had lived since July 20, 1989.

Mr. Shreve was born Nov. 22, 1897, in Landes, W.Va., and was the son of the late Adam B. and Frances VanMeter Shreve.

He was a maintenance supervisor for Grant County Board of Education, retiring in November 1962. He was a member of the Grove Street United Methodist Church.

His wife, Luella G. Thorne Shreve, died Aug. 22, 1976.

He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Surviving are two daughters, Helen Sherman, Maysville, W.Va., and Norma Vance, Lithia, Fla.; 16 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

The Revs. Stanley Kile and George Widmyer will conduct the funeral at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg. Burial will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery, Petersburg.

The family will receive friends 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
