CONWAY, Ark. - Evelyn "Preach" Lawson Lancaster Vaughan, 94, formerly of Union, died May 14, 2002.

A native of Union, she was the widow of Roy Vaughan and a daughter of the late James Monroe and Myra Ellen Smith Lawson. She was first married to the late Allen Lancaster.

She was retired from Miliken Company Lockhart Plant and had worked as a house mother at the South Carolina School for the Deaf and Blind in Spartanburg. She was a member of Philippi Baptist Church.

Survivors include a son, Harold Lancaster of Conway, Ark.; three sisters, Bertha Lancaster, Vera Trammel and Doris Addison, all of Union; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Philippi Baptist Church, conducted by the Revs. Tommy McManus and Jesse Bentley. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The family is at the home.
