Mrs. Jennie Primus, age 88, of Wellsburg, passed away at The Presbyterian Home at Ackley, on Thursday, October 27, due to complications of age.
Funeral services were held at the First Christian Reformed Church of rural Wellsburg, at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, October 29. The Rev. Thomas Vos of the First Christian Reformed Church, and the Rev. Bruce Baillie of the Presbyterian Church of Steamboat Rock were the officiating clergymen. Richard Schafer and Mrs. Lee Boomgarden sang "Where The Roses Never Fade," and "Pass Me Not, O Gentle Savior." They were accompanied by Mrs. Jack Bakker, who also played the prelude and the postlude. Casket bearers were grandsons: Wendell Primus, Alan Primus, Nelson Primus, Grant Primus, Gregory Dysktra, Stuard Dykstra, Darrell Schuller, Douglas Schuller and Daniel Schuller. Ushers were Jonas Geerdes and Edward Nederhoff. Mrs. William Rewerts and Mabel Woods were in charge of the floral arrangements. Burial was in the First Christian Reformed Church Cemetery.
Jennie Primus was born on March 10, 1900, in Wright County, near Kanawha, to Herman and Trentje Langeland Beninga. She attended rural schools in Wright County. She was baptized in the Christian Reformed Faith and was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church of rural Wellsburg and was a member of the Ladies Aide of the Church. She married William B. Primus on February 11, 1920, at her parents' home in Grundy Center.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, William, who died in 1987, a grandson, David Schuller, six sisters, Tena Eckhoff, Grace Bakker, Nellie Christians, Hattie DeBerg, Emma Alberts, and Pearl Alberts, and one brother, Herman Beninga.
She is survived by two sons, Benjamin, of Eldora, and Herman, of Wellsburg; two daughters, Mrs. Loren (Harriet) Dykstra, Elmhurst, IL, and Mrs. Hubert (Katherine) Schuller, of Orange City; 16 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Peter (Sadie) DeWaard, of Kanawha.
A memorial fund has been established. The Doyen-Abels Funeral Home of Wellsburg was in charge of the funeral arrangements.
