A short funeral service was conduct[ed] at Peters funeral chapel, Friday at 8 p.m. for Mrs. Annie Eliza Filhiol Ferrand, 78. Father N. V. Vandegaer, pastor of St. Matthew's Catholic church, officiated. A requiem mass was held at St. Matthew's church Saturday at 8:30 a.m., also conducted by Father Vandegaer. The body was sent by night Missouri Pacific railroad train Saturday to Colorado Springs, Colo., where the interment will take place.
She was born in Monroe, Aug. 20, 1857, and was the daughter of Hippolite Filhiol, grandson of Dan Juan Filhiol and was married to Horace Ferrand and resided with him on his Caldwell parish plantation up to 1907 when they moved to Colorado Springs where his death occurred about 20 years ago. For the past several years she had resided in Monroe, living in the home of her nephew, Robert Breard.
She leaves an only son, Eugene Ferrand, two grandchildren, four nephews and two nieces, Robert Graham, Roger and Albert Breard, Mrs. W. J. Rimes and Mrs. Fred Hill, all of Monroe.
