US Congressman. He was a lawyer at practice in Chicago, when he enlisted in the United States Navy to serve in World War I. After the war, he was a member of the assistant corporation counsel of Chicago from 1923 to 1927. In 1931, he was elected as a Democrat to the Seventy-second and to the five succeeding Congresses and served until his resignation in 1942. He was elected as a judge of the municipal court of Chicago in 1942, reelected in 1948, 1954, and 1960 and engaged in legal practice retiring in 1964.
