Jessie Nadine Franklin Zimmerman, 88, of Girard, Kansas, died at 3:05 p.m., Tuesday, January 12, 2016, in the Medicalodge of Frontenac, Kansas.

She was born April 16, 1927 north of Hepler, Kansas, a daughter of Lloyd T. and Elvina R. (Goff) Franklin. Jessie attended school in the Stark and Walnut areas.

Jessie married George F. Zimmerman on April 2, 1946 in Girard. He preceded her in death on September 13, 2009.

They farmed at Farlington, Kansas for 16 years and moved south of Girard and farmed before moving to Girard in 1970.

Jessie worked at the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant in Parsons during W.W. II.

Jessie was a member of the First Methodist Church in Girard and the Busy Bee Lady's Club of Girard.

Survivors are a son, Lloyd G. Zimmerman of Girard; grandchildren Kimberly Sue Wiley and Nathan Lloyd Zimmerman; brothers Donald Franklin of Pittsburg and Everett Franklin of Yates Center, Kansas.

She was preceded in death by her brothers Gilbert Franklin and Vernard Franklin, and her sisters, Dorothy Miller, Pauline Zimmerman, Leona Zimmerman, and Peggy Franklin.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Girard with Pastor Rick Prideaux officiating. Burial will be in the Girard Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 8:00 p.m., Friday at the funeral home where friends may call after 2:00 p.m., Friday.

Memorials are suggested to "Angels Among Us" and these may be left at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home, 518 W St. John, Box 258, Girard, 66743.
