Frances Nan Bynum Davis, 83, of North Chesterfield, Va., passed on to her heavenly home March 6, 2013. She is survived by her husband of nearly 60 years John M. Davis Jr.; and two adult children, Janan Davis Betts of Bowie, Md., and John M. Davis III of Midlothian, Va.; a sister, Rachel Bynum Bentley, of Oneonta, Ala.; son-in-law, Mitch Betts; and daughter-in-law, Jane Dornbusch Davis; four grandchildren, Jared, Keturrah and Susannah Betts and Jonathan Davis; and numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends. Nan graduated from the University of Alabama with a double major in English and History. Before moving to the Richmond area in 1981, the couple resided in Memphis, Tenn., and Reisterstown, Md. Nan was a lifelong and active member of the United Methodist Church. She was a professional secretary for several organizations and helped her husband run an investigations service in Memphis. She was predeceased by her parents, Jasper and Beulah Bynum; and her brothers, Ralph M. Bynum and Robert P. Bynum. A service celebrating her life will be held March 16 at 4 p.m., River Road United Methodist Church, 8800 River Rd., Richmond, Va. 23229.
