FRANKLIN, KS – Jody Gayle Simmons, 50, of Franklin, died Saturday
January 9, 2016 at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
She was born April 26, 1965 in Portland, Oregon the daughter of
Alvin Leroy and Deanna Jo Goodwin Clay. She had been a resident of
Franklin for 5 years, moving from Girard, KS.
She married Gerald Laverne Simmons Sr. on August 27, 1994 in
Neodesha, KS and he survives at the home in Franklin.
Mrs. Simmons worked at a cosmetologist in Neodesha, KS.
Membership was held in the Christ Church in Neodesha, KS.
Survivors include her husband Gerald of the home, two sons
Gerald Laverne Simmons Jr. of Denver, Colorado and Dennis Anthony
Sheward II of Tulsa, Oklahoma, two daughters Elizabeth Gayle Sheward
and Diedra Shalene Simmons both of Franklin, her father Alvin Leroy
Clay (Anneta) of Clinton, Tennessee, step father Ernest Raymond
Goodwin of Neodesha, two brothers Mark Anthony Clay (Lainie) of
Wayside, KS, Michael Todd Clay (Wendy) of Ottawa, KS, one sister
Kimberly Denise Branham (Gary) of Neodesha, 12 grandchildren, and
her other mother Carol Hill of Frontenac, KS. She was preceded in
death by her mother and one nephew Derek Hale.
Funeral services will be 2 pm Thursday, January 14, 2016 at the
Bath-Naylor Funeral Home, 522 S. Broadway in Pittsburg, KS, with Rev.
David Cheshier, officiating. Burial will be in the Highland Park Cemetery
in Pittsburg. The family will receive their friends from 7 to 8 pm
Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at the funeral home. Friends may call
