Martha Elizabeth (McNeill) Harper
was born on January 12, 1925, in rural Stella, Missouri and departed this life on Saturday, January 9, 2016, surrounded by her family at the Medicalodge in Neosho, Missouri.

She was the daughter of Ausden and Mildred (McGuire) McNeill.

Martha graduated from Stella High School in 1942. She married Gerald Harper on November 20, 1942, and lived on a farm her entire life near Longview, Missouri. She and Gerald raised broiler chickens and beef cattle.

They enjoyed fishing and spent several winters in Florida and Texas after retiring.

While Martha was able she enjoyed gardening, baking pies for the Stella Senior Center activities and spending time with her grandchildren.

She was also a faithful member of the Bethlehem Church and served as church secretary for several years.

Survivors include: her daughter Lynn Ruhl and son-in-law Max of Longview, Missouri; two grandchildren Michelle Markum and husband Collin of Jacksonville, Florida; Michael Ruhl and wife Sarah of Longview, Missouri; three great grandchildren; a dear friend Carl Bible, Joplin, Missouri, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Those preceding her in death besides her husband, mother and father, are a daughter, Janice Harper, one brother Orlyn McNeill, and two sisters Geralda Harbaugh and Betty Sayers Thompson.

Visitation will be at the McQueen Funeral Home in Wheaton Missouri from 6-8 pm, Wednesday, January 13.

Services will be held at the Bethlehem Church on Thursday, January 14 at 10 am, with burial to follow at Union Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Bethlehem Church or the American Heart Association.
